A Perfect Fit

November 30th 1999

When it comes to your wedding dress it really does need to be a “perfect fit.” It needs to fit your perfectly (quite obviously) but it also needs to embody your personality and your own unique style. And when it comes to finding a wedding dress there is no clear cut way but even the most fashion-challenged bride can find “it” if she lets her style guide her.

Are you a hopeless romantic? Something with layers of tulle and organza may be just what you’re looking for while a classic cut is the perfect fit for the bride who likes things neat and proper. Here are 5 ways to help you find the wedding dress that’s your very best.

Glamorous - You love the spotlight, glitz and drama! Red lip stick is your favourite accessory and your wardrobe is filled with things in classic black. Look for a wedding dress that hugs your curves made out of shimmery or metallic fabrics. Look for wedding dresses that are backless or with fishtail hemlines and mermaid silhouettes.

Princess - You’re a fairy tale girl right down to prince charming himself. Admit it: you saved the ticket stub from the first movie you saw together and your room is filled with more candles than you can count. Look for a frilly, girly wedding dress, like a full Cinderella ball gown. And look for details like lace, brocade, tulle, organza and crystals on your wedding dress.

Tradionalist - You’re all about being a lady and exuding class, elegance and sensibility. Your wardrobe staple is a single strand of pearls paired with a classic cardigan. Look for a wedding dress that is clean and simple. Try an A-line or sheath wedding dress with a beautiful scoop neckline.

Modern - You’re all about fashion, staying cutting-edge, setting new trends and you’re definitely not afraid to buck tradition. Push the envelope with your wedding dress by looking for a wedding dress with metallic hues, colour, pattern and over-the-top details. If you’re bold enough try a cocktail length dress or push it even farther to an above-the-knee bubble dress.

Bohemian - You’re all about pretty while remaining natural and true to yourself and the earth. You’re always in a pair of great flats and aren’t one to bother with tons of make-up. Look for a wedding dress that is delicate, made with soft, flowing material and details like embroidery or velvet. An empire waist will look fabulous for your wedding dress.
